I have fallen a little behind with these so I am going to post 3 photos today.
Settling into Australia is going well so far. Last year when I was here I knew it was a holiday so could completely relax, whereas this year with me knowing that it isn’t just a short term I feel a little in limbo. On one hand I want to treat it like a holiday, yet on the other hand I am always conscious of the fact that I need to sort out work, somewhere to live etc.
Got a couple of more little errands to sort today (sim card, medicare etc) then hopefully that should help me to relax a bit more.
Anyway on to the photos. I haven’t had as much chance to get out there and be creative these last few days as we have been making the most of the good weather and catching up with a few friends.
This image is from our 2nd day here when the weather was absolutely fantastic. Naomi and I popped down to China town in the early afternoon for some lunch. (Mongolian beef for me, Chicken Chow Mein for Na’) After finishing there, via a brief tour for some expensive socks in Paddy’s markets (where’s Primark when you need it?), we arrived down in Darling Harbour (http://www.darlingharbour.com/). There we witnessed a street performer entertaining the kids.
What I like about the photo is the kids expressions with them all in amazement at what is taking place before them. Every single one of them transfixed.
After watching this for a few minutes we then chilled out on the grass for a bit listening to some music and reading. There was a rather entertaining drunk, asleep on the grass, who then got out and started shouting random nothingness to bewildered passers by. At one point he looked as though he was going to try and sit with Naomi, luckily (for him I think) he got distracted and went off in the opposite direction. I managed, totally out of character (honest!) to burn my shoulders and nose. I knew then, that sun block should have perhaps taken priority over socks. We finally rounded up the afternoon by having a dawdle around the harbour, before taking advantage of happy hour and stopping for a drink in one of the many restaurants lining the harbour.
